Why is there now an 'Include Special Needs' button at the top?

I haven't been on much lately and have noticed the new layout at the top.

Why has this happened, why is this topic now separate?

Thanks.

It is an experiment that is being tried, so that people make a pro-active consciousl choice to read SN messages.

It was introduced in the wake of some upset when a few threads that were started in SN were answered innapropriately by popeo clicking on them in Active Convos na dhaving no realisation that they were from the SN board - or what that could mean.
So the idea is that people who are interested have the understanding to go with that, and make it part of their permanent choice, and that others do not stumble across threads and answer unhelpfully (or worse).

ahhhhh, I see, thanks.

hmmmmmmm

I wasn't aware of the realities of living with SN until I came on MN and read some of the threads. So in a sense I think it should be in the main domain so more people are aware

But that would be for my/other peoples benefit and not for those on the SN board I suppose
