Media Requests

Out of interest do MNHQ brief those wanting to submit media requests.

We've had a couple over the last few days which, by their misjudged tone, were never going to get a positive response on MN.

Altogether too tabloidy and gushing for we vipers. The OP's got alternatively slated or piss taken.

Now while I do think it would have been wise for the requestor to research the site a bit first I wondered if MN gives them any guidelines or just throws them to the wolves.

MN is however not a 'safe private/public space'

It is an open public space. Not a 'safe' space of any type. MNHQ have made their view on this crystal clear over and over again.

But if course that means that journos who post should, like all the rest of us, take the tough with the smooth.

as it was really unpleasant from all sides and we don't think anyone came out of it in a good light by the end

I posted an, admittedly sarcastic, post about a gluten intolerant unicorn, if you can't do that on mumsnet in response to a poorly worded, 'hey girls' type request from a Daily Mail journalist, then where can you do it?!

Chippednailvarnish · 02/02/2016 18:49

My issue is that by deleting the thread the journalist in question and her fawning friends are free to claim MN'ers were appalling to her, with no way to show that she was in fact the instigator of most of the bad behaviour.

I do wonder if there are any shared advertisers on the DM website and MN, hence the speed at which MN deleted it...

hazey I see you're still in denial about Mr. Binks Chinese fake eBay unicorn.
