"Trending box"

How can I hide this? I have tried switching it to discussions of the day but as soon as I move to another page it goes right back to trending!

I have hidden a thread because of a title that makes me anxious but I keep seeing it anyway in the little trending box...

I'm the same as Happyrouter, "trending" doesn't stick but switches to "Discussions of the Day" when I change pages.
