Threads over 1000 posts

Just idle curiosity here. There's a thread in Relationships currently on 1020 posts with people still adding to it. However, when I look at it there isn't a message box at the bottom and there's the usual notice about the thread not accepting new messages. So how are people managing to post?

Check the App input to threads. I still have an ordinary posting box on that thread. ( I didn't try to post on it.)

I tried to post on the train thread on AIBU but I couldn't as it was closed. Someone managed to post in it after I tried though.

Why did either of those threads get that far though?

Where was the MN presence?

I've asked on both threads and the resulting TAATs and been roundly ignored.

I succumbed to temptation and posted on the train thread - which now stands at 1002 as a result of a Test post.

It's the App - looks as if it's not been aligned properly with the main site and its rules on 1000 post threads.

Hi Lilac - we have had an exceptionally busy few days unfortunately which has meant delayed response times. And we do hold our hands up and say we didn't act fast enough here, or simply do enough. We really are sorry for this.

That thread about the child on the plane is about 40 posts off 1000 and has been completely derailed by the OP of the blocking the train thread.

Something is very, very wrong here.
