Bring back Tech!

After all these years of devoted faithfulness to Mumsnet, he is suddenly dumped in favour of a young arty farty type! He must be crying into his keyboard at this very moment!

Let us not forget how speedy his responses have always been, how he used to take our comments and suggestions on board, how he came to a meet-up - he was more than just plain old Tech, he was the very SOUL of Mumsnet! Ok, I exaggerate but you get my drift!

Come back Tech!

Just to be clear - Tech IS/WAS NOT DUMPED. There are 2 distinct jobs: the programming and the look. Tech does programming (he's the brains), designers do looks (they are the arty farty). Twas ever thus.

And if you 'log out' then what? I mean, what's the point in that? Why not just click on one of your other favourite sites? Or click on 'home'?

Cliff, you're getting all philosophical on us.

Log out is for clearing your "remembered" nickname and so on:

If you just go to another site, then come back to us, you are still "logged in" if

  • you didn't shut your browser in the meantime.
  • you were gone for less than about 30 minutes.

So your nickname and password go in the box. So evil members of your family could start posting insulting messages in your name. Or you might not want anyone else in your household to know your nickname. Or you might be in an internet cafe. Stuff like that. If you explicitly log out, we "forget" them, (though your browser can still remember them if you have it set up that way).
