Yes I know Mumsnet has probably got too many topics, in fact so many that having a mooch through I couldn't find one that might already fit.

Could it be worth having a "Lighthearted" topic? I see so many threads with "Lighthearted" in the title but someone always comes along and bitchplops on it. Then a whole thread becomes derailed with people arguing that a. the poster has a point vs b. this isn't the place for it!

Then again, I suppose people would bitchplop anyway?

trouble is some "lighthearted" threads are not very light

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 12/10/2015 09:28

Is that because they're dumped in AIBU though?

Where as people who aren't feeling lighthearted could avoid the topic?

Hi there

Thanks for this suggestion.

To be honest we do think that a separate topic for lighthearted threads would be a bit superfluous. We'd say that the best place for these currently would be the general Chat topic which is generally a bit more of a lighthearted area of the site. Grin

Tbh, 'lighthearted' is such a reviled and red-rag word here, it would be better if it vanished completely (so I'm glad it won't become set as a topic).

Better if it was abandoned, really, as threads (especially in chat) with witty OPs do just fine.
