AIBU...a tentative suggestion to stop the madness [grin]

I made this comment on a thread in AIBU and then actually thought it might be worth suggesting...

I think AIBU should have a facility whereby posting is suspended as soon as OP realises, and declares they are BU. Or possibly posts should be limited to 100 on AIBU.

It's getting very tiresome reading pages of people just repeating each other and diving in, when OP has conceded some time ago.

I don't know how the suspending thing would work but maybe shorter threads might prevent the boring repetition where people dive in to berate an OP who has plainly stated that they realise they have been a twat unreasonable.

It's just getting so...boring quite frankly. Maybe I should just hide the whole topic.

And I've fucked up the title...Blush

That's a good idea, although I don't know how HQ could do it. Maybe an alternative would be for people to only be able to post on the last page of a thread, so they'd at least be more likely to read the recent posts?

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/10/2015 18:13

What about the opposite scenario where the posters agree that the OP is NBU? Do those keep running for 100 posts or what about situations where it is 50/50? Don't think you've thought this through...YABVU.... :o

Just hide AIBU. Mnhq are not likely to change anything. Honestly I his it about 2 years ago - don't miss it.

What you are looking for is the thread equivalent of shouting "submit" when your brother is sitting on top of you pretending to type on your chest, or shoving your head down the back of the sofa = just like when you were kids?

Go into customise, highlight the op's posts and see 1000 posts on one page. Problem solved. Or, you can hide the thread, not post on it at all, or hide AIBU.

The majority of new posters are in there and that's where the site gets its hits from. They're also the ones linking to social media and clicking on the adverts. MNHQ will not be getting rid of fight club in a hurry as that's where lazy researchers and journalists get their stories.

If you want a nice quiet chat, come join one of the quiches Smile

Yes I probably haven't thought it through Grin

I do have the all on a one page and OP's posts highlighted, it's the just the repetitive nature of the threads (and it's only these really) where OP is deemed BU but and accepts defeat but it just goes on and on. I'm sure a lot of people post horrible judgey bollocks to make themselves feel better tbh.

I'll probably hide it. There just seems to be so many dicks about at the moment

In that case, it's not you that needs to use customise PurpleHair it's those that are piling in and obviously haven't RTFT Grin

By the way, although I try not to post in AIBU, sometimes I feel obliged to defend the OP when they're being given a kicking, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. It can be harsh out there Smile
