Why does screen size keep changing on iPad?

I'd need a magnifying glass to read anything! Sometimes it's okay but all day today it keeps flashing and going smaller. Has been happening since last outage.

Ooh, here too. I thought I'd inadvertently found a zoom function...

It's the ads. Some are bigger than others and the screen changes size accordingly. It's annoying me at the moment as I keep missing links for things I want to read due to resizing.
