Ex-app android user here. We know we're not getting a new app anytime soon, so the mobile site is our only choice. I thought it would be useful to share any information on this thread that helps make the mobile site experience slightly more bearable.
My tips..
Browser choice: I've tried using Chrome which is a disaster as it's so slow. So I switched to "CM Browser" which is meant tobefast. It was OK for a while, but still very slow. Recently I've discovered "UC Browser Mini" which has a 'speed mode'. This massively increases the speed at which it loads the site, but doesn't display the log in buttons so is only good for lurking (also it repeats the last paragraph of each post! But it's so fast I forgive it!).
Lack of favourite topics function: I realised it was so much simpler to just bookmark my favourite topics in the browser, rather than struggling to navigate through the mobile site.
This is where I've got to so far... Anyone else got any good ideas?
