Why don't local sites accept name changes?

The local site insists that I can only make posts under my previous username. I don't understand why it insists on that one rather than the one I previously registered with, but either way I really would rather be able to use my a name I choose, particularly since posting about local issues tends to pin down where I live and may out me.

MNHQ will change your NN for your local site. Send them an email to [email protected]. We can't do our own name changes on local.

Hi InimitableJeeves - as FruSirkaOla said, we can change your Local username over manually. If you pop a mail into [email protected] we can change it over for you.
