Quick question about the hacking

Sorry to post here, I wasn't sure how to contact someone about it, since the hacking, my email address, which is registered to my mumsnet account, has been bombarded with spam email is this something to do with whats been going on?

Yes, I think a number of posters have been bombarded with spam since the hack. Were you on 'The List'?

DangerousMouse · 29/08/2015 19:48

No, I wasn't on the list

Okay. Did you log in using your email address rather than MN username or a social media account? The theory was Jeffrey published the usernames as they were of low value but may have harvested email addresses as well, which are more valuable. If you report this thread you can engage with MNHQ to find out more.

I really don't know, I think I always log in with my username, on my laptop I just stay logged in all the time. I'll report it, thanks for your help

I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence but ever since the hack I've been getting a lot of spam e-mails sent to an e-mail address of mine which isn't actually associated with my MN account. I'm sure it is just a coincidence that it started happening at around the same time as the hacks because how else could the hacker have got hold of an e-mail address that I don't actually use on this site? Confused

Also (and I realise I'm hijacking the thread a bit here) I know this sounds barmy but I swear my laptop is logging itself in here without any input from me. This has only started happening within the last couple of days but a few days ago I was MNetting on my laptop and I could swear that I logged out when I was finished. However next time I came on MN on my laptop I was already logged in.

This has just happened again just now. I swear that I logged out last night and this is the first time I've been on my laptop since last night yet like before I was already logged in.

Do I need to change my password again or am I just losing it? Confused

This has happened to me now and again, and I think it's because I need a new laptop....
