I know I should have heeded MN advice to change my passwords on other sites if they were the same as the MN one and I have now but has anyone else suspected that their FB account may have been hacked? If mine was, it wasn't exactly devastating (couple of friend were sent birthday greetings even though it wasn't their birthdays) but I am aware it could have been worse.

Not me but you have to wonder why bother going to the trouble of hacking to send fake happy birthday greetings? i know the hacking isn't funny but that's really tickled me for some reason.

You're quite right - it's bizarre! If it is a hacker, it's certainly a very polite and considerable one!

My Facebook did that once. Just said happy birthday to one of my friends when it wasn't their birthday. I was fairly certain my account hadn't been compromised and nothing else happened so assumed something had gone wrong with Facebook. It has some kind of automatic 'wish your friend a happy birthday' thing doesn't it?

*considerate. That's what comes of making comment after wine!
