Floating facebook/twitter/pinterest ticker on left hand side of screen

Is there anyway of disabling the facebook/twitter/google banner thingy that is on the left hand side of the screen? Does everyone else have this?

It's like an annoying and over eager suitor who follows you around at a party even though you do your best to ignore.

If you're on MN New, Squooshed, go into Customise and say No to the displaying Social Media. That should turn it off on the boards. (Not on all MN pages, but most of them.)

Be warned that if you're on Classic and want to stay that way, saving the change may move you to New irrevocably. I'm on New already so don't know precisely what the inside of Customise would look like to Classic users. )

PS -SORRY. You actually have to say 'Yes' to Hide the Social Media - down the Customise page a little. (What a scramblebrained bozo am I today? )

Thanks Simurgh. Have had a poke around Customise but it doesn't seem to be giving me the option to hide social media.

If you can cope with things looking a bit more minimalist, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, and switch to the mobile version of the site ( if you hate it just do the same again to switch back)

Oh Dear. It should be right at the bottom of the main option block. (Above the 'Automatically boxes.) Are you on Classic?

Not sure if I'm on Classic, had to re-register this morning so suspect I'm on the new-fangled version.

Nothing like my Customise screen and I'm on New. Maybe give it a little time for the site to settle down and then ask again if it's still the same? (In case they've just made significant changes and I've been grandfathered in.)

MBHQ is there any way I can have this disabled?

I really don't want to facebook, tweet, or pin any MN threads. Especially under my RL name. It's really starting to bug me.

Ignore previous post, I've managed to re-set my password to the old me!

Ticker is gone and I can view 1000 posts per page. Result.
