How can we tell whether login is secure if using the mobile app on a phone?

It doesn't show the https:/ etc on the phone app, so how can you tell whether it' s secure? Apologies, I'm sure this is a completely dozy question .

(I've been avoiding using the phone app, and have been using desktop site on my phone as I can see the https bit).
