I've been booted on and off, and then ended up up back on, but with an old account. S'fine, change my username like it's going out of fashion anyway.

Just in customise I can only get a max of 100 posts per page. And no more Just One Big Huge Massive Page option as far as I can see. No link to view all messages at the top of the thread either.

I know you're really busy, but if Tech finds a spare minute I'd appreciate them taking a look and seeing if it can be resolved. Cos my iPad is v. temperamental and doesn't like clicking on pages. So it's taking a long time between crashes to read a thread.

iPad 2, OS 7, safari, no app (just using mobile site. Do not want to switch to app. Don't like it)

Same here - and I can't customise my colours either. After 7 years of being here it's pretty galling!! Sad

AngelicaDelight · 27/08/2015 13:46

I should add - I have opened a brand new account after recent happenings.

Simurgh · 27/08/2015 13:51

It sounds like you've been moved to Mumsnet New. Wink

By the way, I'm on OS 8.4, OP. Shouldn't you be updating yours?

Mummylinisreborn · 27/08/2015 14:01

I have had to Re register after MNHQ inadvertently de registered me. I too was on classic and don't like pages. But I don't think we can go back to how we had it before all this going on. Everything of mine has now gone, despite it not being my fault no history, no pm,s just Zilch. I only managed to get back on a couple of hours ago after numerous emails going back and forth since last week . The only thing is I have been told I can probably get my old name back when tech has time . But I liked my looooong threads. I am not good with change at all. So for everyone who had had to change to pages I feel your pain !

AngelicaDelight · 27/08/2015 14:10

These are my only options for customisation. Shock

In addition, the OP is a lurid apple green and my posts are a strange mauve colour. Hmm And the 100 threads a page thing is driving me potty. If this is MN New then I think I might have to... dare I say it.... move on?!?!? Sad

The colours can be customised, AngelicaDelight.

Mumsnet New is .......OK. I would hate to be forced into Classic anyway - I went there some months back and it just looked.......'messy'.

ShallHeBeTheOne · 27/08/2015 14:18

I really want this back too!

AngelicaDelight · 27/08/2015 14:31

Simurgh - look at my pic - there's no option to customise the colours.

I also have no option to choose New, Classic etc.

Mummylinisreborn · 27/08/2015 14:32

That is the only options I have too angelica nowhere to change ops posts or mine. Only the horrid green and the mauvey colour for my posts. I have been forced to rejoin after an accidental de reg by HQ .
I too miss classic. But we will have to get used to the new pages I think. I would like to change the colours though

Mummylinisreborn · 27/08/2015 14:36

I don't think the option for anyone registering again is there to to use classic. Anyone joining up now will be put on new. And I think once you are on new you can't then go back to classic again. I haven't got used to the pages yet, but to be honest I am so glad to back after not being able to post since last tues I will have what I'm given. ( would still like classic back though )

Simurgh · 27/08/2015 14:49

This came up yesterday although not with regard to colours. I have a completely different Customise page and I don't know whether this is a temporary glitch or whether existing users are being grandfathered in. I'd welcome some news on that.

AugustDay · 27/08/2015 18:22

I read somewhere or other on MN that new accounts are limited to 100 posts per page to help loading speeds (or something). I find it really irritating. I'd rather a slower loading time.

AugustDay · 27/08/2015 18:23

It's in FAQ's

Why can I only see 100 posts per page?

In order to cut down page loading time, anyone who joined Mumsnet after 25 January 2015 won't be able to view anything more that 100 messages per page.

Simurgh · 27/08/2015 18:40

It looks, however, as if they've changed more than that for some users, AugustDay.

How do I customise the way my Talk boards look?

Click on customise. You can then use the drop-down menu to choose various options, from the reading direction of discussion threads to colouring your own posts to hiding whole discussion topics.'

The screen picture that Angelica dropped into her post is very similar to - or the same as - one that another poster dropped in a few days back when discussing (if I recall) hiding the social media. Neither looks at all like my Customise.

I'd welcome an HQ comment on eg whether this is a permanent feature and to which posters it is planned to apply.

AngelicaDelight · 30/08/2015 07:53

Well, a few days of using it and being limited to 100 posts is just a royal PITA I'm afraid. I can no longer quickly search threads for a word, and it's just really inconvenient to have to keep turning the page - I used to enjoy settling down with a cuppa and one big long thread!

Not being able to change the colours from the garish bright purple and green is also a real pain. Sad

Finally I can't get rid of the large social media links which are at the bottom of the thread, incorporated into every last post. So annoyed that I am lumbered with all this when it wasn't of my own volition! Angry

AugustDay · 30/08/2015 10:28

I'm still hating being limited to 100 posts on a page. It's ruining my MN 'experience' Sad Angry Wink

AngelicaDelight · 01/09/2015 08:11

Oh FFS I have just found another annoyance with the 100 posts thing.

If you advanced search and then click on the post, it takes you to the thread... but then if the post isn't in the first 100 messages then you are just stuck on the first page - you have no idea where the post you're looking for is, it could be on page 2 or page 10.

I just can't cope with this... SadAngry

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/09/2015 11:03

Being limited to 100 posts per page would be a right pain.

In order to cut down page loading time, anyone who joined Mumsnet after 25 January 2015 won't be able to view anything more that 100 messages per page.

I'm not very techy, but it seems to me that Threads I'm Watching has now suddenly become Threads I'm On and/or Watching. Doesn't that mean an increase in page loading time? As far as I can see, nobody wanted that change but it's happened anyway. It was first mentioned as an improvement but I don't understand how it's improved anything.

BeccaMumsnet · 03/09/2015 17:29

Hi everyone - huge apologies for the delayed response.

It sounds like there may be two issues going on at the moment.

Has anyone not de/reregged but has lost the ability to see 1000 posts per page?

To others who did dereg and then rereg accounts, sadly we changed a few things recently including the option to view in classic to those with existing accounts. Any new users will be limited to "new" Mumsnet. Apologies for this, it's actually pretty good once you get used to it.

Please do get in touch with any further questions.

Simurgh · 03/09/2015 17:37

I have a further question, I'm afraid. If I'm being grandfathered in - as it seems a goodly proportion of users are - then that would make you running two systems I think? Are there any 'thoughts' to change the options for those users who have not re-regged?

AngelicaDelight · 04/09/2015 05:02

How is it pretty good?

  • I can only view 100 messages per page
  • I can't search threads any more
  • Advanced search doesn't work if the post I am looking for isn't on the very first page
  • I can't change the frankly HORRIBLE bright green and purple highlight colours.

TBH I'm pretty annoyed - it was not my decision to change, I didn't want to dereg, but for privacy and other concerns I had no choice. Now I have this really limited account with terrible functionality, through no choice of my own - and it has definitely affect the time I spend on here and how much I post.

There has got to be another option!!?

MissingPanda · 04/09/2015 08:39

A few months back I came on mn to find my page settings had been changed. When I tried to change back to one full page the most I could do was 100 posts a page. The colour highlighting the OP's posts was still the same as before and my own weren't highlighted.

I did dereg and rereg a few days ago so now seem to be stuck with what I have to agree with a pp is a horrible bright green. I'm not so keen on the colour of my own posts either. Is there at least a way to change the colours?
