Beyond a joke now - annoying e.mails

I turned off the damned irritating e.mails because I was not watching the threads and did not want to watch them.

Thought they had stopped. Oh no, it appears that if you post more than once on a thread you get another sodding e.mail arrive later on.

Or maybe the turning off doesn't work? I won't find out as I am going to attempt to turn them off by turning off all MN e.mails or add to my junk mail filter. I get enough spam already, I do not need this.

I am getting really fed up with these improvements. I was slowly learning how the site worked and how to make it work best for me, and now it doesn't.

I miss the coloured bits, they were useful. Being bombarded with e.mails is not useful.

These are not improvements.

User error.
I get no emails, and still have coloured bits.
You have buggered your settings.

Yes, automatically putting every thread I post on on my Watch List is deeply annoying.

PPs - You can choose to untick the box that is now ticked by default.

But subscribing people to mailing lists by default is not good practice.

It feels like being spammed when you have dozens of e-mails you didn't ask for and don't want clogging up your inbox.

I'm glad I saw this thread, I couldn't work out why I was getting the irritating emails. Thank you.

Madwoman, no, take a look at a few other threads about this here on site stuff.

If you choose to untick the new default of having every thread you post on being in TIW you apparently bugger many of your previous settings. This has happened to a lot of people, and there is now no access to My Settings to set it back to where it was before. Nor does re-ticking the new default to agree to all threads you post on being placed in TIW set it back.

I imagine if there are people whose email is a work email are going to be horrified at the blizzard of email that is greeting them.

TBH, that would serve them right for misusing a work email.

I was able to access it before, and turned off the settings to stop being added to watch.

Then I posted on a thread for a second time. Another e.mail arrived, that was after I had turned it off.

So I went back and stopped all e.mails.

I think I might take a break from MN, not keen on the changes at all and I miss the colours.

This isn't happening on the old app, the only good thing about it.
