What is this tacky advert MN?

Even worse, why, when I clicked on it by accident thinking it a mn message, did it open a new window which would not close and which demanded that I confirm whether I owned my phone type?

I was just coming on to start the same thread. It does look like a PM. I thought you'd updated the mobile site. Not loving it MNHQ

I had that as well - and there's no option to close the window without confirming you're the owner of the phone. Nasty.

I had something similar just now-black envelope with flashing red star thing.

If I can work out how to get a screenshot I will try and catch it later.

I have an ancient nexus and use chrome if it helps.

Thanks for flagging this, we're working on getting this blocked asap. Unfortunately these ads creep up from time to time on the site, we have really tight restrictions on what advertising we accept but sometimes these deceptive ones slip through the net.
