I feel crap. I have given up using because it always returns 0 messages, yet other people seem to be able to find stuff

Feeling thick today.

i get the same problem

i kind of assumed it had been disabled for legal reasons

iota · 13/11/2006 14:49

hmm well i just searched on 'cat' in the message, in the last month, and got over 500 results - then I did 'cat' plus 'iota' in the nickname, in the last month and got 3 messages.

so it works for me

acnebrideofFrankenstein · 13/11/2006 14:51

bl**dy hell, NFI!

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2006 14:51

If you put in a date you need to remember to put the full year ie 2006 not 06 as this makes it have no results (in my experience anyway).

zephyrcat · 13/11/2006 14:52

I can't use it either it gets me really wound up!!!

iota · 13/11/2006 14:52

I always put in the dates - I just click on todays date and alter it

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 13/11/2006 14:52

My searches always turn up 0 as well

iota · 13/11/2006 14:54

zephyrcat · 13/11/2006 14:55

it's certainly not user friendly is it?

FrostytheSnowman · 13/11/2006 21:59

Have just spent a full hour getting 0 results.

Hello all,

There is a problem with date searching at the moment that is gradually fixing itself. For now, it's best to leave the date fields blank. Pruni, something you said just struck me. I put weaning in the "find text in the message" box, and hunkermunker in the nickname box and get 105 messages. But if you put weaning hunkermunker in the message box, you get 37, because that's only goniing to give you messages where the word hunkermunker is in the message, not messages she posted, if you see what I mean.

We could just make the whole thing search on any text that's in the message whether in the subject line, message, name of person posting / whatever. That might make it easier to use, at the cost of a little precision in searching?

Regards,
Tech
