Dear MNHQ - Can we have a Yoga topic, please?

CoteDAzur · 21/05/2015 15:07

There are quite a few of us practitioners of yoga & pilates on MN and we would love to have a topic where we can exchange tips, discuss our challenges, and help each other improve our practice.

About 20 of us have already expressed enthusiasm about a Yoga topic on this thread today.

So.... please? Smile

Hi Cote, hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay!

Some of you may be aware that we're undergoing a major topics cull to clear away some of the dead wood and make room for the shiny new topics, Yoga being one of them.

Hopefully it'll all be done and dusted next week. Can you all hold your poses until then? Grin

CoteDAzur · 24/06/2015 21:55

Next week sounds good! Thanks, Dawn Smile

Yes please count me in. Though I am a bit of a purist, and would say that yoga is very definitely NOT a sport.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/06/2015 12:00

I misread this as people asking for a Yoda topic.

A Yoga topic far more sense makes.

daisychain01 · 30/06/2015 22:37

My Trikonasana is starting to wilt in this 30Deg heat, Dawn. Smile
Did topic Yoda get we people lucky?

CoteDAzur · 02/07/2015 12:38

We're ready when you are MNHQ. Come on. We know you can do it Smile

Have popped on to check in as well! Just got back from yoga class. Definitely need to find some lighter yoga trousers for this weather!! Wouldn't it be nice to have a MN yoga topic I could chat about that on Grin Grin Grin

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 02/07/2015 14:01

Oh! I had a bunch of smileys at the end of that post to make it sound more light hearted!!!

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 02/07/2015 14:01

Oh there they are. Ignore me...

CoteDAzur · 02/07/2015 14:09

if there were a yoga topic I would be posting on it today to ask about my slightly twingey front shoulder which I am very much hoping is nothing to do with my rotator cuff.

I've been doing a lot of yin yoga and my shoulders are now really open and flexible…hoping its not gone too far….

CoteDAzur · 05/07/2015 15:28

I had something similar but it seems to have gone away now. I think mine was due to being a bit too enthusiastic with the headstands around the time I just learned to do them.

Then again, I had a twingey thing on the front of my hip which turned into a visible difficulty while walking. It turns out that I had a little bit of bone causing a hip impingement. I'll have to be very careful with that one or face a hip replacement in years to come.

Moral of the story: Have it checked out by a specialist on an ultrasound scan. It may be nothing or it may be something serious.

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 05/07/2015 18:19

I quite like how yoga allows you to be more aware of these small twinges/changes in your body.

If we had a yoga topic I'd be posting about yoga clothing, as I am treating myself to some new yoga outfits and can't decide on what I want :-)

CoteDAzur · 05/07/2015 19:18

If we had a yoga topic I'd be right there with you, talking about my Lululemon addiction yoga clothes which I just wear everywhere these days Grin

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 05/07/2015 19:25

Add me to the waiting list to, although my pleasure is in Les Mills Bodybalance, which is a mix of Tai Chi, pilates and yoga. And I'd also like to talk about my addiction to bright leggings for class.....Grin

TheRealMaryMillington · 05/07/2015 19:49

I would also like to discuss whether anyone has done Mysore style ashtanga classes, and how that went, and whether I should. If there was a topic.

I would also be an active contributor to any threads about leggings, if there were any, on the special yoga board, if there was one.

CoteDAzur · 05/07/2015 21:01

I'll go out on a limb and bet that there will be a rather fast-moving thread about yoga clothes on our new topic Grin

Oh we are nearly at 100!

I've noticed a sex topic tonight, has that been around a while or is it new? Just thinking if it's new maybe our yoga topic will be here soon. Fingers crossed.

CoteDAzur · 07/07/2015 15:56

Oooh an Ohm emoticon! Let's first get the topic and then we can start pestering MNHQ about it we'll see.

Whhhhhhy are we waiting .....

Did lots of spinal twists today.

Class breaks up for the summer next week, but we have a few Summer Specials to keep us going until Sept.

How is your injury Cote, are you getting better?
