Dear MNHQ - Can we have a Yoga topic, please?

There are quite a few of us practitioners of yoga & pilates on MN and we would love to have a topic where we can exchange tips, discuss our challenges, and help each other improve our practice.

About 20 of us have already expressed enthusiasm about a Yoga topic on this thread today.

So.... please? Smile

Late to the party, as usual, but I second (actually, "fiftieth" is probably more accurate) the request for a yoga topic.

I do Bikram, vinyasa flow, power flow, yin... and I think a topic just for Yoga, separate from Pilates, Tai Chi etc, would be really good. Yes, they all fall in the same sort of category, but they don't have enough in common to all be lumped together. Yoga is so diverse that it really deserves its own topic.

Thank you for the PM, CoteDAzur.

Great news and sorry to took me a while to get around to finding this thread to add support.

I'm a bikram fan but looking forward to learning about other disciplines.

Namaste

Without meaning to be pushy (well, maybe a little Grin), is there any news on when our topic might come online?

I have just done a search for this again, thinking I might have missed the announcement.

HellonHeels · 11/06/2015 17:44

Yes I was wondering about the yoga topic too Smile

StillaChocoholic · 12/06/2015 14:15

I've been contemplating when would be a good time to come and ask Grin
Hopefully it will be here soon Smile

I'd like to throw my support behind a yoga topic too. I have just started attending regular classes (have done Pilates before, and yoga at home) but would love to chat with like minded people and ask all the questions I'm too embarrassed to ask in class!

MargoReadbetter · 13/06/2015 12:50

Until we get our topic. Has anyone read "The Lie" (.99 on kindle)? I'm about 70% through. Stuff happening at a retreat. Not a literary masterpiece by any means but enough of a page turner.

IonaMumsnet · 13/06/2015 15:27

Hi folks. Sorry - these things do take a little while sometimes but sounds like it is in the pipeline and there are lots of you poised to post. We'll chase it along and post here as soon as there's news on this. Namaste!

howtodrainyourflagon · 13/06/2015 15:31

damn. I opened this thread thinking it was a yoda topic. Wanted to post "enlightened and broad-minded mumsnet is." never mind.

CoteDAzur · 13/06/2015 16:34

Another vote here for a yoga topic!

I have a three hour yin yoga workshop on Saturday... can't wait

CoteDAzur · 16/06/2015 08:33

victoria - Try 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. I heard a lot of good things about that program from newcomers to yoga. Good luck and see you soon on our yoga topic. (Soon, right? Come on MNHQ Smile)

I would quite like a Yoga topic. I have done Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin.

PoorNeglectedBike · 19/06/2015 08:30

Ooo I'd like to too. I was dragged along to a class but I'm really loving it. I'm very fat and unfit and simply cannot hold my breath. I'd love to chat with others to see if I'm doing all I can to be able to one day do a headstand :)

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 21/06/2015 07:45

Posting so I get an update when this comes to fruition (bump bump, MNHQ!)

I do hatha and vinyasa classes at a local studio, recently had a break due to injury. I'd like to do more daily practice at home as well.

CoteDAzur · 21/06/2015 20:07

OneDay - What was your injury and what was the doctor's recommendation? I'm recovering from an injury, too.

HellonHeels · 21/06/2015 23:11

Happy International Yoga Day everyone. I didn't practice today but helped my boyfriend work on his handstand Smile

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 23/06/2015 15:32

It was a significant abite injury on my forearm so meant most yoga was out for a while. The doc couldn't give two hoots about what I did tbh!

My yoga teacher however was great at stopping me from overdoing it on that arm and giving me alternative poses if needed. I'm going to an 'easier' class than usual at the moment whilst I get back into things.

So where's this yoga topic then, hmm?

CoteDAzur · 23/06/2015 20:20

It's been a month since MNHQ said "Yes" to our topic. I'm wondering if they misunderstood us and are building this yoga area physically, with brick and mortar It would have actually taken less time to build a one-room yoga studio Grin
