Dear MNHQ - Can we have a Yoga topic, please?

CoteDAzur · 21/05/2015 15:07

There are quite a few of us practitioners of yoga & pilates on MN and we would love to have a topic where we can exchange tips, discuss our challenges, and help each other improve our practice.

About 20 of us have already expressed enthusiasm about a Yoga topic on this thread today.

So.... please? Smile

I would also be interested in a yoga topic. I like both yoga and Pilates but stumble along with DVDs and a rather corny old book. To second Springtimemama, it would be great to swap ideas about which online vids, pages etc. are good and which aren't.

ladydepp · 21/05/2015 23:06

Yes please to yoga and/or Pilates topic! Great idea.

I would like other people's tips on what to do for stiff shoulders, yoga for post-running, dvd and podcast advice etc....

Happy to spread my limited wisdom too Smile

I would like to add my support for a yoga thread.

I have done yoga for years and have rarely gone a week without attending a class since 1998 as it has done amazing things for my back.

It will be lovely to have our own space to chill and share our yoga ideas.

My teacher brings along some great new ideas that I would be happy to share.

She did a Women's Yoga morning at our local arts centre last month and it was wonderful!

It's very kind of CoteDAzur to start this idea thanks.

RosieCassMuggins · 22/05/2015 01:01

I love the idea of posting photos - ancient MNers in unlikely poses... (speaking for myself, of course.)

CaoNiMa · 22/05/2015 05:14

I'd love to have a yoga/pilates/holistic topic!

I'm an ashtangi, who dabbles in other styles, plus meditation, and qi gong.

Lammy7 · 22/05/2015 08:14

Yes from me too :)

gatewalker · 22/05/2015 09:18

A yes here too!

Wenglish · 22/05/2015 09:21

Oh yes please!
I really want to get into yoga and need somewhere to ask my stupid questions Grin

CoteDAzur · 22/05/2015 09:53

There are now 49 of us on this thread and the one on Exercise to express enthusiasm for a new Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi topic.

MNHQ - Are you there? We are ready when you are Smile

Nospringchickendipper · 22/05/2015 15:45

Please Mumsnet can we have a yoga/ pilates topic. I have been doing yoga now for several years and have found it has helped my physical as well as my mental wellbeing.

chickydoo · 22/05/2015 15:53

Hi
Sorry cote didn't respond to your pm
I've been teaching yoga for donkeys years ( at least 15)
Run courses, workshops etc
Will (hopefully be running TT courses soon)
Glad to chat on MN about yoga, share ideas, & answer questions.
There are lots of yoga forums theses days, & several good FB groups for yoga related chat, but happy to join in here from time to time.

Hi everyone. Thanks for posting. We'll take all of your comments into consideration and have a think.

kateclarke · 22/05/2015 18:14

I would like a yoga etc topic too

TalkinPeace · 22/05/2015 20:56

Hi Becca
THank you for the input.
Yoga / holistic is something that has been dispersed through MN
but as many of us get older
and more people want to stay healthy for a long term
then the holistic forms of exercise will become more and more popular

MN can get brownie points for encouraging such :-)

JustineMumsnet · 23/05/2015 16:34

Yes we can trial this, no problem - with usual proviso that we'll need to have a cull at some point on usability grounds - and the least used will be most likely to go - so bear that in mind.

We'll confirm topic name and get it up asap.

CoteDAzur · 23/05/2015 16:40

I'll join

Recently started vinyasa floooooooow yoga

Am rubbish at it Grin

CoteDAzur · 23/05/2015 22:03

ubik - I do vinyasa flow, too. I started out unable to touch my toes and with a knee cap out of place, with mild cartilage damage (I had had cortisone & hyaluronic acid injections into the knee some months before). Less than a year later, I'm acing the trigasana and can do a headstand.

DC are seriously impressed Grin

OP posts:
Ubik1 · 23/05/2015 22:25

My first session involved teacher helping me to do a headstand - it was amazing!

In a year it will be my party trick.

I stopped Bikram because the heat was making me feel quite unwell - vinyasa is great as still challenging, dynamic but also very relaxing.

I love it

chickensaresafehere · 27/05/2015 13:38

Kundalini's my favourite,anyone else??
Ps sorry I'm a bit late to this!

CoteDAzur · 28/05/2015 08:41

I haven't done any Kundalini (living in a small town)- what is it about?
