Would it make sense to have a geek section? For questions about computer problems, tech nostalgia, etc etc? Maybe a Geeks and Gadgets?

NotQuiteCockney · 10/11/2006 10:04

Well, I think all the people who have "help I can't turn my computer on, what's wrong" sorts of problems would use it too :-P

~Thanks for the suggestion NQC - what does everyone else think? Is this one that could sit in other subjects or is it deserving of a topic?
Let us know.

No we can't have one or my dp will find out and i'll never get to go on MN because he will be on here looking at it. The Dawkin's thread drew him in the other day, he didn't post but read the whole thread and that was bad enough!

hub2dee · 10/11/2006 10:23

I thought about this other day. It seems funny to have all sorts of special interest areas, but not have 'Tech'. It would probably be fairly heavily used I'd guess.

But really, Justine, what we need is one for PC Tech and one for Mac Tech.

hub2dee · 10/11/2006 10:23

cod - I bet you have more gadgets than me anyway.

NotQuiteCockney · 10/11/2006 10:39

Would people put funny links on it? Do we want people to share funny links in a separate section?

? LOL

There's an 'Only Joking' section if that helps !

arfishymeau · 10/11/2006 11:58

I'm not sure tbh. It would just end up as a 'I'm a thick girlie who can't do my computer thingamabob' and we'd all end up posting night after night on shitey pc problems that are impossible to fix.

My geek life is elsewhere tbh.

zippitippitoes · 10/11/2006 12:02

Yes because I have to resort to going to forums like this and i daren't post as i am a girl!

southeastastra · 10/11/2006 12:04

geekstogo are very helpful and have helped me even though i'm a girl

a computer help section would be great! i had some really good advice on here re my router.

zippitippitoes · 10/11/2006 12:08

am currently researching a home cinema with an upscaling hd dvd player or even recorder

and i still think that a diy/building topic would be good
