Every few months there seems to be these annoying pop up banners that come on the main page of e.g., chat. Purple banners, in the lower right corner. There's an 'x' to click to make them disappear, which they do, until you come back to that page a couple of seconds later, whereupon you close it again. And again. And again. Repeat ad nauseum every time you read a new thread and come back to that page. grrr.
And then eventually they seem to get taken down, and all is well for a while, until the next time.
The next time is here. It's a banner about the mumsnet page for jobs in your local area. And it will not go away permanently, however many times it is closed.
