Is it possible to make it easier to HIDE threads please?

It's quite a faff to hide threads when the site is busy and it can take a while. I wish it were easier like on Yahoo. Each message has a 'box' next to it and you just click on the boxes for the e-mails you want to delete. Obviously we can't do that here but we could 'hide' them.

It's the Royal things that's triggered the question as the threads are relentless and posted for 'traffic', but I've often pondered this hiding lark and wished it were easier.

Do you mean a multi hide function? I agree completely. Hiding individual threads isn't too much of a problem but when active convos is 50% dull, a multi-hide option would be great.

The Royal Family topic was created with this in mind, and there have been various threads asking MNHQ to move some/all the threads to the topic. They seem to have varying thresholds for moving threads like that - all Ebola ones were moved pronto.

So perhaps leave the ephemeral ones in chat (as they vanish, and posters might have posted with that in mind), but move all those AIBUs that aren't really AIBUs at all.

But on the 'hide' thing, I take it you're in the mobile? Because on desktop, you can customise to add a button to Active Convos which is a one-click hide function. You don't need to open the thread, just click (eg whenever you see 'lighthearted'or 'girls' or 'ladies' or other provocations)

Hi Lying,

As EdithWeston has helpfully explained (thanks, Edith!), the option to hide threads is pretty simple on the desktop site. Are you on the mobile site or the app?

Personally, i'd love a function to hide any threads with a particular word in the OP Grin say "katie hopkins" or "royal baby". On a serious-er note, it could be used for trigger warnings, you could hide all threads containing "rape" for eg? I realise this is probably very difficult to do though...?
