I've always interpreted the as meaning 'Well, that takes the biscuit' when posters can't believe what they've just read.

Perhaps the biscuit is feeling unloved as being used so negatively, that's why we need a variety of biscuits to show our love and appreciation for everybody? Or should I just go and join Netmums?

I thought that whole thing was really embarrassing. Everyone had the chance to talk to a prime minister and they asked him what his favourite biscuit was. It was awful.
