It's time was over about 5 years ago.

You KNOW my feelings.

I'm still feeling them.

Retire the useless dodger.

Biscuit

What's wrong with the biscuit?

HydrochloricTulip · 19/04/2015 20:30

I think we should have a choice of different biscuits, a rich tea for when we're feeling mean or a maryland cookie for when we're slightly more generous :)

LittleMissRayofHope · 19/04/2015 20:30

BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

I do love a biscuit

HoneyDragon · 19/04/2015 20:31

Mn is huge. Most users don't know what to do with it.

And it's stupid.

Brown's gone so the biscuit should go too.

OP posts:
Catnuzzle · 19/04/2015 20:32

What was Brown?

scaevola · 19/04/2015 20:33

It's a VAT question, isn't it?

There have been huge court cases on the rate payable, depending on whether it is Cake or Biscuit

BastardGoDarkly · 19/04/2015 20:34

Yes, what was brown? Why are you so anti biscuit Honey ?

QueenBean · 19/04/2015 20:35

I HATE the biscuit

I am all in favour of the biscuit deletion

FluffyTheEvilOne · 19/04/2015 20:35

I've always wondered about the biscuit. I know it's a ODFOD thing, but never knew why. Do you mean it refers to a specific incident/poster?

It has always seemed a bit weird to me...

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 20:36

I agree. It's a very old stale biscuit now.

mortil2 · 19/04/2015 20:36

I'm fairly new and have not quite sussed out what it means, but am willing to learn

CanIKondo · 19/04/2015 20:37

Gordon Brown...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/04/2015 20:37

Yes, it's had it's day, it's an old joke now and I hate the "here, have my first Biscuit" comments, although you don't see them so often now (maybe everyone has given out their one and only biscuit).

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 20:37

It's supposed to mean 'no comment' mortil.

Trills · 19/04/2015 20:38

Gordon Brown.

But surely we need it for this election's politicians, who have been SO KEEN to come and do a webchat with us...

Catnuzzle · 19/04/2015 20:41

Yes that makes sense! I thought another emoticon had been removed, one that I'd not seen. Phew, haven't missed anthing. As you were.

ninja · 19/04/2015 20:42

Gordon Brown refused to comment on what his favourite biscuit was before the last election. It turned out that he'd never actually been given the question (he'd had to have a selection of the questions read to him because of his sight).

Because the question had been asked a lot of times and it looked like he'd evaded it the biscuit symbol was started ...

That's about it isn't it?

WhenMarnieWasThere · 19/04/2015 20:44

I've always interpreted the Biscuit as meaning 'Well, that takes the biscuit' when posters can't believe what they've just read.

HydrochloricTulip · 19/04/2015 20:47

Perhaps the biscuit is feeling unloved as being used so negatively, that's why we need a variety of biscuits to show our love and appreciation for everybody? Or should I just go and join Netmums?

I campaign for a Positive Biscuit Icon :)

26Point2Miles · 19/04/2015 20:48

His fave was choc digestive if I remember rightly
It was me and another mner asking the question ( after a pre GB discussion with mnhq quizzing them over having the best biscuits out ready)

The whole thing went viral, making the news. Many MNers were disgusted as it gave out the message that mumsnet could only talk about biscuits and not discuss politics

PippiLicious · 19/04/2015 20:49

Agreed. Get rid of the biscuit.

And anyone who says "Here OP, have my first ever Biscuit"

nancy75 · 19/04/2015 20:49

you know how a joke is only really funny once...

QuickQuickSloe · 19/04/2015 20:49

But two biscuits look a bit like boobs!

Akire · 19/04/2015 20:50

Took me ages , thought it was some kind of breast/nipple!

ImperialBlether · 19/04/2015 20:51

I thought that whole thing was really embarrassing. Everyone had the chance to talk to a prime minister and they asked him what his favourite biscuit was. It was awful.

I agree with the OP - get rid of it, MN! Please don't remind us of that thread.
