The only thing that frustrates me about Mumsnet

is that active convos fall off the page with a gap of only 10-15 mins. After that they are deemed no longer active and are filed! No wonder so many are unanswered.

yep totally agree and i think it depends who you are as to wether you get any replies or not

tiredemma · 03/11/2006 21:28

when i first log on ( every day!!) I always go into specific topics that interest me- like Student parents, then 'in the news' and so on, only after i have seen what has gone on in these threads do i go into active convo's. That way i rarely miss anything!!!

fartmeistergeneral · 03/11/2006 21:28

yes definitely. That's only natural I guess - if you see a familiar name you are more likely to open the thread.

I just feel like things move too quickly - 15 mins is nothing when there are so many conversations going backwards and forwards.

the equation's a bit more complicated than that 7up: you have to factor in something for how inflammatory the thread title is

southeastastra · 03/11/2006 21:29

i always go to last hour

brimfull · 03/11/2006 21:32

I use the last hour option if things are moving too fast.I agree it is frustrating if you've started a thread and it drops into obscurity immediately.

IvortheEngine · 03/11/2006 21:35

At the risk of sounding like an old fart .... at least you now have the "threads I'm watching, threads I'm on, threads I started" facility. Back in the old days ............. .............. .......... ............ ............. ........... .......

Also, take out the 60 in the address bar and replace it with 200 to see the 200 top active convos instead.

2ShOOOOHSandAHHHHs · 03/11/2006 21:49

wow that is clever didn't know you could do that

Posey · 03/11/2006 21:49

Ivor - just did that! Thanks very much (never knew you could do that)

Posey · 03/11/2006 21:51

But will it keep it that way? I just posted my last message, then went back to active convos and it was back at 60.

IvortheEngine · 03/11/2006 22:09

Yes but if you copy the line from the address bar and go to google and put it in and press search then it saves it on your history drop down list, doesn't it? The same as if you type in i.e. www.itv/com/thismorning or something. It remembers it and then you can click on it from your drop down list and enter the site that way instead of entering via the home page and clicking a couple of times to get to talk. I'm rubbish at IT but I've explained it to the best I can. Apologies for any errors. Hth

fartmeistergeneral · 04/11/2006 09:10

thanks, Ivor, I didn't know you could do that either!!!

I'm glad that you were able to follow what I was trying to say.
