MNHQ, could we please, please have a timed edit function? I would be prepared to lose the preview button in exchange

but the preview button is your chance to edit...

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/04/2015 21:30

It is, but is rarely used. You see people correcting their posts in a second post all of the time.

Oh not this again! We just had one of these.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2015 21:33

Does anyone use the preview button except maybe if they're trying out a link or emoticon?

Wouldn't it be feasible to have some sort of edit where the original was still available - so people could clean up DYACs, spelling and grammar errors but couldn't really go in for gaslighting?

gamerchick · 13/04/2015 21:33

Id rather have a quote button me.

Grantaire · 13/04/2015 21:33

I want AIBU obliterated. It is embarrassing and shameful. They can edit AIBU to the nth degree.

ISpyPlumPie · 13/04/2015 21:39

I agree Errol. Maybe if the correction was in red then the intended meaning would be clear but it couldn't be abused to deny what was originally said.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/04/2015 21:40

Or an edit function that times out after 60secs. I think its a psychological thing, you only spot typos after you have posted ,even if you have previewed. Preview also doesn't help all those times a fat thumb hits post half way through posting.

Edit function for five minutes after posting.

And yes please to a quote function.

And a LIKE button.

And free cake? Or am I just pushing my luck?

nickelbarapasaurus · 13/04/2015 21:56

ah, yes, i'm sure on my chicken forum, when you editted a post, the correction was in a different colour - that's what we need, red or green for corrected, and when you hover over, it tells you what the original post said

nickelbarapasaurus · 13/04/2015 21:56

we DO not want a Like button ffs

and we already have Cake

nickelbarapasaurus · 13/04/2015 21:57

the edit function on FB means you can see what was originally typed
