??
and people are only allowed to post in there about it.
I know you can hide threads
but wouldn't it be easier?

There is a politics topic already, surely election threads should go there? It could be renamed Politics/Election 2015 for the duration, I guess.

Someone from MNHQ should do a topic clean-up - there is still a Swine Flu topic!

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 10:29

I think that's a great idea, the nearer the Election gets the more threads there will be.
Anyone wanting to debate it can just go into the topic.

I can then go and ask a few questions myself...

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 10:30

Election 2015 Topic. Perfect.

Samcro · 03/04/2015 10:33

i think some people will find the politic topic a bit daunting.

I'm not sure. There is no doubt that politics is one of the few things that affects us all - whether we find it interesting or not. It matters hugely. While I get the idea of avoiding cluttering the boards with lots if threads, I am also strongly of the opinion that everyone should be exposed to this as they will all be affected by the outcome (and will no doubt be starting AIBU threads about issues to do with Westminster (can't get a Drs appt, taxation is too high, ISIS concerns, cost of living etc) for the next five years!)

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 10:43

I think there may be a point where people will be sick of seeing so many election threads in Active convos.

I am strongly of the opinion that I, and others, should choose whether and how we are exposed to the election.

I find the news perfectly adequate in that respect.

sassytheFIRST · 03/04/2015 10:50

Gotcha, soup. But lots of people avoid the news - no criticism of that , just a fact - so won't see any real coverage. Yet they will be impacted upon by the outcome.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 03/04/2015 10:51

Hmm
I am not sure what is planned re new topics but thanks for flagging, I will endeavour to find out.

Thanks Samcro and the rest of y'all

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 10:52

I think I get exposed to lots of stuff on MN, but I just scroll down and past if it doesn't interest me or hide if I feel that strongly.

I wouldn't hide an Election 2015 topic, I may have a dip in and out and a read though.

Samcro · 03/04/2015 10:54

we have topics for every thing else. even the royal family and Christmas.

Oh right. Do you don't believe people can choose for themselves. Gotcha.

CadMaryzCremeEggzAreASwizz · 03/04/2015 11:47

There is only a point in having it if you actually move threads into it so I can hide it

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 12:45

Grin Maryz. I would imagine there will be a lot of election related AIBUs. What fun.
