Surely I can't be the only one to find this ad running across my phone when on mumsnet entirely inappropriate and horrible?

Cossatto 'pimp my bump'.
To pimp something? An unborn child? Horrible, horrible. .. take it down!

Yeah I saw the big ad on Facebook and didn't think it was in particularly good taste. Sad

avocadotoast · 10/03/2015 08:23

I posted in feminism when I saw this last week, it makes my skin crawl. I've just noticed it again now. Is there anywhere we can report it directly to MNHQ?

sianihedgehog · 10/03/2015 10:17

I quite liked it. I'm not sure what's offensive about it?

AndWhenYouGetThere · 10/03/2015 10:37

Vile ad - Mumsnet HQ should know better!

BeccaMumsnet · 10/03/2015 10:50

Hi everyone - we're just going to pop this in Site Stuff.

We'll take a closer look at this.

Can we just ask where the ad is appearing? Is it on a particular page?

avocadotoast · 10/03/2015 13:45

I noticed it when looking at the pregnancy forum - haven't seen it elsewhere on the site

weeblueberry · 11/03/2015 18:25

I'm seeing it every time I use the mobile version of the site and go to the pregnancy forum.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 11/03/2015 19:08

Still? Gah. Thanks weeblueberry, we'll pass this on.

avocadotoast · 11/03/2015 21:22

Yep, I saw it again earlier too.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 14/03/2015 06:48

Sinai do you know what pimping actually means?

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 14/03/2015 06:50

Got a picture and nosed about a bit. You probably know this by now, HQ, but Cosatto are doing a whole campaign around PimpMyBump with hashtags and everything. So I suppose it might be a bit trickier than just taking the ad down Sad.

It's still tacky and crap though. Pimping. Ugh.

pimp my bump? please, mumsnet!
SonnyJimBob · 14/03/2015 06:51

It's a take on 'Pimp My Ride', the TV show about doing up cars. It means to make it look better, decorate it, etc.

Not offensive at all, and just people not getting the joke.

avocadotoast · 14/03/2015 07:31

Sonny, yeah, I think we all understand what it's a "take" on.

It doesn't make it any less offensive.

TrulyTurtles · 14/03/2015 07:38

The show isn't called that any longer. ( I would imagine, due to complaints)
I'm sure cossatto would find a campaign from mn against this advert a tad uncomfortable.

sianihedgehog · 14/03/2015 07:51

I think you'd have to be actively seeking offense to read that ad as anything other than "make my bump fancy". And they didn't change the name of the show, it just eventually stopped running after about 4 years.

GobblersKnob · 14/03/2015 08:47

Gosh.

Professionally offended.

NakedFamilyFightClub · 14/03/2015 08:50

Another person here who finds it distasteful.

MaryWestmacott · 14/03/2015 08:58

Distasteful.

Even if you take it in the "pump my ride" way of "make it look fancy enough to look like it belongs to a pimp" it's still distasteful thing to say about a woman's body.

IonaMumsnet · 14/03/2015 12:00

Thanks all. Is it just appearing in pregnancy or is anyone seeing it elsewhere too?

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 14/03/2015 23:30

Elsewhere too, Iona. Here's a photo from Chat.

PseudoBadger · 15/03/2015 15:12

On this very thread!

pimp my bump? please, mumsnet!
TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 15/03/2015 17:48

thanks - we are on this.

TheJiminyConjecture · 15/03/2015 17:52

Still here

pimp my bump? please, mumsnet!
UterusUterusGhali · 16/03/2015 13:49

Right here, now.

It jarred slightly when I saw it earlier, I must say.
Not so much the word pimp; words change meaning. Maybe the idea of wanting to "beautify" or "pimp up" a woman's anatomy. It's a bump. It's there for a reason. Hmm

BeccaMumsnet · 16/03/2015 15:31

Hi everyone - this will be going down at the end of today.

Thanks for your patience.
