Mumsnet, please don't ever have a like button...

I don't do facebook but hear people talk about "likes" and just find it really cringeworthy and childish.
I just don't care if anyone "likes" what I post on here and thsts why mumsnet works so well, people can say what they like without fear of not being liked
That's it really Grin

Liked and shared.

Do I win?

hope I win!

I didn't know this was a discussion but I've often wished there was a 'like' button on MN. If I read a point I agree with and think was well made, I want them to know but don't want to clutter up a thread with 'I agree with poster' with all the attendant hassle of finding asterisks on my phone! It's not like there'd be a 'dislike' button, which could be bullying or depressing.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 28/02/2015 09:55

I knew that the first reply would be that [grin[
So we at HQ have been talking about a like button for aeons but as a rule are generally against it.
Don't worry OP AFAIK Don't think it is on the cards any time soon
But for those of you who DO want it, one can always

That is the beauty of the creepy wee brackets
You can make up your own emoticons.

I think that Ledkr has been here long enough to know it's been a subject of heated debate for years now - and I'm guessing her point is that we don't need a Grin

cozietoesie · 28/02/2015 16:49

I'd promise to at least consider it if someone could explain to me what 'liking' actually achieves.

Ledkr · 28/02/2015 16:54

Agree you saying I'm old fru Grin

cozie it's so that you can tell everyone that your post or pic or whatever was liked so many times.

My ex mil likes pics of my kids on fb even though she never bothers to ask about their welfare!
I am restrained in not posting a comment of "bollocks"

FruChristerOla · 28/02/2015 16:56

I haven't got a clue cozie; I must admit to being rather ancient and a 'FB-refuser'!

FruChristerOla · 28/02/2015 16:59

I didn't say you were old, Ledkr Blush. I meant that you've been on MN for a good number of years and have, obviously, seen the many previous "FB Like" threads!!

TiggyD · 28/02/2015 17:52

I like those up and down arrow things to rate posts.

I may or may not have agreed with the OP. Now you'll never know!

DollyTwat · 28/02/2015 17:55

Ledkr instead cos you love those right?

Ledkr · 28/02/2015 19:51

I do so enjoy a lovely hug dolly yes.
