took me ages to work it out , even with the instuctions.

Sorry not much help

The pale yellow box at the bottom gives you the step-by-step instructions, gm - you have to copy the URL from the white box at the top, paste it in after the first curly bracket (), then do the second , type in what you want the link to say and put in the second curly bracky ({}).

Does that help? Trouble is if someone types in a link, it turns into a link, and then you can't see what they typed!

WSM · 23/04/2004 22:05

Open up the web page to the site you want to link to in a new window.

Copy the full url (address) in the 'address' line at the top (where you type it in), using "copy and paste".

Type in the instructions given in the box (\link{url etc)

Type \link{, then 'paste' the address you copied, type \ and then your description (whatever you want it to look like eg My new link)

For the mumsnet home page (the quotes are to isolate what you have to type)(or copy if it's the URL):

""
"link"
""
""
"mumsnet home page"
"{}"

Sorry gm, that looks whole lot more complicated than it really is !! Best thing to do is just play around, following the instructions in the box (next to Add a message). You'll get there within a few tries

Janh · 23/04/2004 22:08

It has moved the curly brackets - it *always& does that!

The first curly bracket has to go after "link" and the second one after your title.

Janh · 23/04/2004 22:08

always

!!!

am losing control of my fingers!

gothicmama · 23/04/2004 22:08
