MN addict - is this normal behaviour?

I discovered MN a mere few weeks ago and i find it diffcult to stay away, I feel like an addict, any spare minute I have I am slinking off to check the talk threads. I have just ruined my spuds and will now have to have mash instead of roasts, cos I got too engrossed in a thread. Will the novelty wear off, or will I become ever deeper entrenched?

mmm.. was going to post something similar.....!

had comment this am

'Lulu --did you go to bed!'

posting until 11.45 last night...back on at 7.15 am!!!

actually scaring myself a bit!

AlfredAitchcock · 22/10/2006 13:16

i am supposed to be working right now. i was supposed to be working last night too. it's impossible, if you are working at a computer, not to check threads. it only gets worse, sheraz, save yourself while you still have the chance.

I would say from experience, that deeply ebtrenched is the only way to go

Sheraz · 22/10/2006 13:22

Oh God family are so hungry DH has taken over cooking lunch - the shame of it ( good result actually I can stay longer!) And being really naughty sipping a glass of rather nice Cab Sauvignon - well it is Sunday(?)

shouldn't that be shiraz, sheraz? pmsl at your 'good result'.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 13:24

my normal behaviour is that I regulary try to leave and try RL but have never managed it in almost 4 yrs.

I get bored with the monotony of it, decide to stop posting then a thread catches my eye and it alll starts again....

There really isn't any hope.

Sheraz · 22/10/2006 13:25

Drink anything as long as it is red and alcoholic - although not normally before 6pm! I try and show some restraint in some areas of my life. BUT THIS MN is getting out of my control!!!!!

I've burnt dinner so many times that I've started bringing a timer to the computer when I've got something cooking, to remind me to go back!

Sheraz · 22/10/2006 13:29

At 1.30pm I will get up and leave , i will I will I will.........

I too did that with the potataoes Sheraz

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/10/2006 14:57

You know you're addicted when you have to set yourself little tasks. Like....make the beds and load the washer.....then comeback for a bit.....hoover the stairs.....then come back.

I once left dd at a school disco because I was on MN. I think it was a Lav thread that did it.

anon666 · 07/11/2006 15:10

God. Me too. DH says I have to give up mumsnet for the sake of our marriage. I said for the sake of our marriage I need to stay on it.

DelGirl · 07/11/2006 15:13

There is no way out, you're an addict!

schneebly · 07/11/2006 15:15

I tend to find that I have phases of not looking much or just lurking but then follows a period of 'heavy use.'
