iPhone update with auto text bar hides what I'm typing in app!

Since I upgraded my iPhone I have a new line which makes unhelpful suggestions about what I might be typing. That means that when I type a few lines like this they go 'under' the emoticons and new bar so I can no longer see what I'm typing. Also, if I go back to insert something I can't actually get back to the end.
Argh!

Hi there! What sort of iPhone is it you're on? And which web browser are you using on the phone?

WottaMess · 07/02/2015 08:06

It's a 5. And Safari but I am using the MN app not looking via the browser.

I have this as well when using the app. It can mean you are caught unawares by autocorrect!

This is typing on the app. It's ok at the moment.
If I go down a bit -
What happens when I get down to the bottom?
The writing goes under the emoticons first but you can bring it up by putting in a couple of returns and then you can drag it up and down so you can see it all.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/02/2015 08:29

You can disable the predictive text thing in Settings, it's very annoying.

RustyBear · 07/02/2015 08:32

This is typing without the predictive bar

When you do a return the whole message box moves up but the emoticons don't.

What seems to be happening is that the predictive text bar, which is below the emoticons moves up when you do a return and it pushed the emoticons up to cover the writing.

I have taken a couple of screenshots and I'll post them in a moment.

To disable the predictive bar, go to Settings- General-Keyboards and turn the slider switch off.

Yes, it actually seems to go under just the top half of the bar.

I don't usually use the app ( in fact I had to re download it to try this out.

I'm actually beginning to get used to the predictive bar- if you use its suggestions it puts a space in automatically after the word which is actually fractionally quicker than finding the space bar at the bottom of the screen!

Thanks for all the info on this. We'll ask Tech to have a look and see if they can suggest anything.

I just had this, typing a longish message in the app on iPad. Once beyond a certain number of lines the active text line is hidden behind the emoticons selection. Very annoying.
