Zombie warning

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 26/01/2015 11:09

Could it possibly pleeeease last longer than two posts? It only takes a newbie posting twice (easily done, once because they didnt know and once cause they missed something in the first post) and we have the same situation as the warning is supposed to prevent! Grin

And can you make the one at the top a zombie picture. A cute zombie sitting atop the thread would be great Grin

Just to play the devil's avocado, we do try to encourage conversation as much as possible - so we'd be reluctant to but warnings everywhere in case it prevented someone from reading a thread the ended up being really useful to them.

RowanMumsnet · 30/01/2015 17:41

Just to add to KateS's post - we're looking into the possibility of adding this as a customise option, so that if you can't bear zombie threads you can opt out of seeing them altogether

bruffin · 30/01/2015 19:04

i cant see how zombie threads are helpful. What happens is everyone reads the Op and replies to that and not a post the soneone has added at the bottom.

PinkSquash · 30/01/2015 19:07

Please add something to the mobile site that tells you when a thread is a zombie one.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 30/01/2015 19:15

I don't want to opt out of seeing them altogether! Sometimes an OP might have updated and I'd like to scroll down and read that. I just want a little warning at the top!

ChippingInLatteLover · 30/01/2015 19:15

Please add something to the OP!

I know you don't want warnings everywhere, but there really, really does need to be one in/on the OP. It could stay there once on. It could just be like the Mumsnet Have Commented thingy.

I wouldn't want to 'opt out' because I want to read updates from OP's, or even just interesting threads, but to know it's a ZT from the beginning.

It also means you can quickly check if if it's the OP updating or some twunt posting a dense wind up comment!

ChippingInLatteLover · 30/01/2015 19:16

Kate. If so,done is interested in the thread, they'll read it whether it's a ZT or not, but you read it knowingly.

TheEfficiencyMovement · 01/02/2015 11:51

I don't want to opt out of seeing zombie threads, I just want to be made aware that they are old threads. A zombie thread warning at the top and the bottom of a thread just makes me double check the dates. It should be permanant.

I've started a thread about this before too. I sometimes put a lot of thought into my posts and it's irritating when it's pointless.

SoMuchForSubtlety · 01/02/2015 11:54

Couldn't you just colour code all posts that are more than, say, six months old a different colour?

cherrytree63 · 01/02/2015 12:08

I don't like the "cliffhanger" zombie threads where I spend ages reading them to find there's no conclusion.
I would like to see the zombie alert at the top, but also how about "locking" zombie threads (another forum I use does this and puts a padlock symbol at the beginning of the title) . The OP can still link to the thread if necessary.

bruffin · 01/02/2015 13:52

It would help to deter spammers who resurrect threads to advertise
