Do all Mumsnetters drive Ford cars?

I was just looking where I might put a question about a problem with the battery on my car. Scrolling the lists of topics I notice two things:

  1. There is no topic for Car Questions
  2. There is a topic called Ford in Other Subjects

The word Ford has several meanings. Surely Mumsnet wouldn't have a topic just for people with Ford cars but no other types of car? I went for a look, it is just about ford cars.

I suggest the Ford topic has a namechange and becomes the Car topic, since I am guessing that driving a Ford is not a requirement for being a mumsnetter.

mmm I've not noticed that before, but tbf there are only about 20 threads so not a lot of ford owners.

I wonder if one of the techs back was a serial ford driver and decided to start a topic?

I think there was a bit of Ford sponsorship/car testing by MNers/interactive Ford stuff a couple of years ago and the topic is just a hangover from that.

There is a Cars topic though. Its found under Products in the topic list, or if you list topics A-Z its there between Carers and Changing bags.

Ah, so there is. Why on earth would it be under Products?

Mind you, I suppose if you were looking to buy a car then it would be a product.

But I was looking to fix my car. I was expecting it to be in Home & Garden or at a push in Other Subjects. I wouldn't have thought to look in Products.

yy, the above is right.

Ford was a section from when we have done some work with them in the past.

We know MNetters drive lots of different cars and have a whole Cars section too.

We'll speak to sales about the Ford topic. Thanks for letting us know.
