MNHQ policy on porn

Just wondering whether The HQ has a policy regarding porn-related threads that crop up, sometimes on Relationships or AIBU?

There is one thread active at the moment that I found really distasteful the longer it has gone on. It started out with someone seeking advice, but it has degenerated ... Posters egging each other on to Google various vile porn-related search terms etc.

Is it just a question of "well don't click on the thread" and does MNHQ take a completely permissive approach, anything goes or is there a threshold beyond which it's time to say, enough of this, go and talk about porn all you like but not on a family oriented website (my preference!).

I haven't got a problem with sex, and sex and humour. But I do have a problem with posts where there seems to be no understanding of the exploitative and often abusive nature of porn and it's relationship with crime, trafficking and sexual assault.

I like it here because there isn't the level of policing you get elsewhere. Surely we're all old enough to decide for ourselves what we want to read?! If people are posting on a thread then that is THEIR choice and preference. If you prefer not to read it, then don't.

If mn was solely family oriented I'd have left long ago. I come here as an escape from family stuff most of the time!

Hide the thread. I hide loads of shit.

As Chaos says, this is a website for grown ups.

Porn is a massive problem for many relationships and it's also something that people for obvious reasons DON"T want to talk about in RL.
That said, our talk guidelines also say that if something is "beyond the pale" then we will remove it - and it's possible that some of the things on this specific thread (have you reported it btw?) may well stray into that territory.

FWIW, I've been here for a VERY long time and know now that if someone says "don't google." then seriously, don't google

y'know that's why I asked the question. And got my answer, there isn't a policy other than everything goes. I couldn't see the point of reporting so many of the posts on that thread.

I can hide the thread and turn a blind eye to it. I am a grown up. As I tell my DSS the Internet is full of filth like porn, we need to put our own filter on it.

Btw I wasn't so daft as to Google anything!
