Recently banned poster

A poster has recently been banned and some of their threads have been removed. From other threads on here it is apparent some people are really upset, and others had been tolerating the poster for a long time despite knowing she was a troll. However, it also seems she had been reported by a number of other posters for a wide variety of inconsistencies, and that is only those who have posted. Could you explain why she wasn't banned sooner, when there were various massive holes in her story?

We're really sorry that people have been upset - that's REALLY not what MN is about.

As a rule we don't tend to comment on trolls.
But, FTR, we don't ban folk lightly at all so our policy such as it is, is that we give posters the benefit of the doubt as far as is possible to do so. In this instance if we didn't ban someone "sooner", it's because we didn't have enough reason to do so.
