How do people read posters 2nd/3rd threads they have started?

Hi I often see people write, "hi OP was that your other thread I read?." Or "yes I read your other thread now it makes sense." How do you do that?

Advance search their user name.

Recignise the username, especially people who post a lot on certain parts of Mumsnet. You get to know the regulars.

Ah but if they say they have name changed i won't be able to find them. Sometimes I feel I am missing the drift because people are on here more than me, and I'm on here at least once a day. Some people must be on here all day! There is a thread in relationships where everyone is commenting about the 'other thread' that she has written and I'm so confused as I can't find the other one!
