To ask MNHQ to highlight OP and my posts in a thread.

raltheraffe · 26/12/2014 16:15

Sometimes I skim read a long thread to look for OP's updates and my posts and their immediate responses.

I cannot understand why OP's posts are indistinguishable from other posters. They should be in a different shade of blue so I can pick them out more easily.

While I am on the topic I will repeat my request for a tiny violin smiley for when someone is on a self-pity trip.

OP posts:

Just customise the posts.

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas · 26/12/2014 16:16

You can do this.
Through customise I think.
I have done it Smile

eurochick · 26/12/2014 16:17

You can customise your colours to do this already.

woowoo22 · 26/12/2014 16:17

You can change your settings on the desktop and mobile versions to do this. As far as I know doesn't work on the app. Which is a PITA.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/12/2014 16:18

Select customise, and you can pick a colour for your posts and a colour formOP posts, and it will apply to all threads.

AuntieStella · 26/12/2014 16:18

Which version are you in?

The ordinary (desktop) site already has those functions - the highlight OP's and own posts that is, not tiny violins. Look under 'customise'

NoLongerTheSeasonToBeJolly · 26/12/2014 16:19

YABU as customise as at the top, just click on it.

Groovee · 26/12/2014 16:20

On the mobile app you can't do this

Feminine · 26/12/2014 16:20

You show up as blue to me, so it can be done :)

VitalStollenFix · 26/12/2014 16:20

That option already exists. Go to customise.

Feminine · 26/12/2014 16:21

I am on my phone.

Trills · 26/12/2014 16:24

Yab a bit u to be asking for something that already exists.

BackforGood · 26/12/2014 16:28

Yup. Agree with Trills.
YABU to ask for something that is already there.

OP's posts are all green, and my posts are all purple on my PC (slightly different colours but still distinguishable on my tablet).

raltheraffe · 26/12/2014 16:31

I have done it now, thank you for the information I did not know about it.

Now all I need is the tiny violin emoticon.

OP posts:
TremoloGreen · 26/12/2014 18:18

is there a way to do this on the app? I have it online but find the phone app a bit frustrating for this same reason.

thatstoast · 26/12/2014 18:21

It was a while before I knew how to do this. Makes mumsnetting much more efficient!

Dowser · 26/12/2014 18:22

I don't understand why the OP's name isn't under the thread title. Sometimes I can't remember thread titles but a persons name often jogs my ancient memory.

OneSkinnyChip · 27/12/2014 00:07

Does it work on the app? I haven't figured out how to do it if so Sad

HappyAmbler · 27/12/2014 08:47

MNHQ really need to sort out the app - it's pants but it's the main way I use MN. I've been on here over two years and I really thought they would have done something about it by now.

Can't customise AFAIK
Really hard to find where I got to when returning to a long thread
No pics
...

PulpsNotFiction · 27/12/2014 11:23

On the mobile site, and the OPs posts are highlighted in a deeper grey. You need to customise it.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 27/12/2014 20:47

Hallo
Thanks so much for flagging this. I'm afraid I can't help much.

Mainly because it's not my department as I live with the DSes and the Peace and Love twins in the sticks MNHQ country outposts.

But what I can do is

1 sympathise as it's annoying.

2 move this thread to site stuff as it's about the site.

3 get one of the 9 to 5 ers to come on and give you a proper update when they're all back after Christmas

HTH
Xmas Smile

Trills · 27/12/2014 21:03

Happy in-betweeny-Christmas Olivia.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 27/12/2014 21:06

Thanks Trills.

I have totally been channelling our cousins across the pond and saying Happy Holidays which is very unlike me but I LIKE THE CHANGE
[insert multidenominational emoticon here]

Trills · 27/12/2014 21:08

Happy midwinter thingy!

Trills · 27/12/2014 21:09

I want to tell people to just chill out a bit abut New Year, because the only logical time to think that the year was "new" has already been and gone.
