On 20th November YANBU. (I know this isn't aibu). It's ridiculous how many threads there are about what people are cooking in 5 weeks time.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 20/11/2014 18:18

I thought that was the point of the christmas topic?

I wish we could do the same with the woo threads that aren't in woo.

NoelleHawthorne · 20/11/2014 18:25

They're escaping Squeezy

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 18:27

Just put a bucket on your head and remove it after Dec 25th. This will save you seeing anything Christmassy outside too.

It will also protect you from wet weather.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 20/11/2014 18:28

I wish we could herd them back in, little

NoelleHawthorne · 20/11/2014 18:29
Sad

after xmas are all the 'no one appreciated my xmas' threads

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 18:29

Or, just click the hide button whenever spot one in active conversations. You could hide your own thread then given that it falls foul of your grinch filter.

LittleBearPad · 20/11/2014 18:29

The 1st December would be reasonable. But there's still over a month to go.

AuntieStella · 20/11/2014 18:31

You could try reporting them and see if MNHQ will move them.

Early on, they almost invariably will do so. But they stop no later than Advent Sunday (30 November this year) which is about when the Christmas emoticons appear.

Late November? Well it's a bit like Cnut and the tide.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 20/11/2014 18:31

And the "My bitch MIL gave me a used tampon even though I gave her the Crown Jewels" threads. There's those to look forward to, too.

Yay

LittleBearPad · 20/11/2014 18:55

I've seen a Christmas emoticon, today. I know I have...

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 19:08
Xmas Grin

Well I never.

gamerchick · 20/11/2014 19:12

It takes a second to hide a thread when in active convos.

Christmas is 34 days away so it's on people's minds.

gamerchick · 20/11/2014 19:12

I love the whole thing so it doesn't bother me Grin

MrsBertMacklin · 20/11/2014 19:18

Christmas topic was created out of consideration for those who find it upsetting due to bereavement, dysfunctional families etc.

Just the subject line is enough to make lot of people upset, if Christmas is a difficult time.

There is a whole topic, a bit of thoughtfulness to scroll down and find it would also take 30 seconds.

gamerchick · 20/11/2014 19:56

And if there was no Christmas topic there would be a lot more threads on the main boards.

It's going to seep out and neigh on impossible to banish completely in case it upsets when there are probably more people who like it than not.

Hide as you go or report and ask for them to be moved or something. It's probably easier just to hide.

Showy · 20/11/2014 20:02

People post all sorts of stuff in the wrong places and it can be wildly insensitive and desperately upsetting. Sadly, that's the way with a busy forum where people 'post for traffic' or never venture out of AIBU. Really, all you can do is hide the threads from active convos and move on.

People will insist on refusing to use the forum in a tidy fashion. Such is life. My husband leaves his dirty washing next to the laundry basket.

Mintyy · 20/11/2014 20:06

Will fall on deaf ears. HQ do NOT care about this. They told me and Maryz they would not be bothering to move Christmas threads in September. Or it may even have been AUGUST.

usualsuspect333 · 20/11/2014 20:07

You can just hide them.

It's really easy.
