Hi I'm fairly new here and struggling to understand the abbreviations,such as DC and the rest

Just under where it says Mumsnet Talk there is a link that says Acronyms thank should help

Hello. Look up ^^ there along the line that starts with Talk in black. One of the clicky links is Acronyms that should answer your questions.

Also, on the same line, go to Customise and select the options for highlighting the OP, highlighting yourself and put the bookmark function on. It makes your MN experience a whole world better.
