Would a welcome fourm be a good idea

just musing.

The reason I think it would be good is because new user to the site could find their feet and have MNHQ to answer questions.

People NC so often I don't see how it could work.

Nah. People can lurk until they are ready to get stuck in..no point making a big deal of it.

It could be an idea worth exploring. I wonder if it would cut out the trolls to only allow new members to post in the new members forum for thei first few posts.

You may have an idea there Selks! New members can post but NOT start new threads for first week. Would put off the trolls.

The only downside is people who finally get the courage to ask for help it could be off putting.

Name changing will not effect it. It will go on email address not username
