I blocked the sender but wasn't sure how to report it or if it even needed reported.
I'm on the mobile site.

What did it say ??

GahLinDah · 18/10/2014 12:59

I got one too, did it begin "Hello Dear"?

CheeseEqualsHappiness · 18/10/2014 12:59

I just got one, saying she had looked at my profile and giving me an email address. Name of Sophy

Broken English, sounded very odd

Reported and deleted

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 18/10/2014 12:59

I'd report it, just in case. There should be a ! button just under the PM - press that.

CheeseEqualsHappiness · 18/10/2014 12:59

Yes! Hello dear

BOFster · 18/10/2014 13:00

There should be an exclamation mark underneath and towards the right. If you click it, it gives you a report form.

Cocolepew · 18/10/2014 13:00

Asking me to email them at a hotmail adrress because she had something important to say but couldn't open up on a public forum. But obviously can open up to some random Hmm

You can report a trolly/dodgy sounding PM just the same way you can report a dodgy post on a thread.

I'm on a PC, so it might be different on the Mobile or App - but this is what I see.

I've reported a troll PM in the past. MNHQ dealt with it and responded to me.

HeySoulSister · 18/10/2014 14:34

I got it on my thread! The full message from her on my 'oddities in your neighbourhood' thread...... She's clearly an odditie!

cozietoesie · 18/10/2014 16:13

Sometimes it's a judgement call about whether to report or just to delete because a PM might be a little 'odd' but not actually trolly or dodgy. Maybe judge your actions on the basis of how an inexperienced or naive poster might react if faced with it?

FruVikingessOla · 18/10/2014 16:20

I knew my 'trolly' PM was from a troll - it was a long-standing but frequently name-changing troll, who I've been watching - and reporting - for at least three years (as have other MNers).

It was the first time I'd actually got a PM from 'it' though, so of course I Reported it to MNHQ.

cozietoesie · 18/10/2014 16:31

Oh Yes - that's entirely different.

FruVikingessOla · 18/10/2014 19:36

The thing is, if you just block the sender it's only a short-term solution for you.

But if you report it to MNHQ then they can do an 'overview' of that particular poster - and then ban them.

DoughnutSelfie · 18/10/2014 19:54

Yes do report

HQ love reports, partic if you have spotted a 'pattern' and pass your thoughts on in your report

SpanielofDoom · 19/10/2014 09:58

I block adn report

Cocolepew · 19/10/2014 11:09

Thanks all.
I'm a bit disappointed I wasn't the chosen one Sad Smile

Absolutely - we very much appreciate your help in catching those pesky critters. Grin
