Website and app making me feel I can't use the site

Is anyone else getting fed up? My mobile app regularly just doesn't work, doesn't update etc and I can't get updated threads or do simple things like flip them. While the website goes slow so often, possibly because of the sheer volume of ads that come up at times. Yesterday, I simply stopped even trying to access MN from my computer after a while.

I love chatting on here but it's really starting to get me down that the technology can't keep up?

Are you using the Mumsnet Mobile website, or desktop version? You may find the mobile version better than the app on your phone.

When using desktop, what OS and browser? Some browsers seem happier than others, try making sure all updates have been done so latest browser is used. Try using Chrome rather than IE, see if that makes any difference.

I'm using the app. And I want to keep using the app - it should work.

I am using IE, not Chrome. But again, I don't really understand why I should have to change to Chrome to make it work better?

As far as I know MN have pretty much given up on the app for the time being, the new mobile site is pretty good though.

Unless you have a really slow connection the ads on MN shouldn't really slow it down. Make sure all your software is kept updated. Maybe try an adblocker - it should stop most add from loading.

In an ideal world, websites would work on all browsers. Alas the days of simple HTML are long gone, we now have client side scripting and not all browsers cope that well. So you need to be running the latest version of a browser so it has a good chance of working.

You should not need to change from IE to Chrome but Microsoft in heir wisdom have stopped doing updates for IE on some operating systems. So unless you are running Windows 8 or 10 with the latest update to IE, then your version of IE is probably not getting e updates it should.

Maybe you are running Windows 8 but maybe you have Win95 or Vista. Whilst old operating systems still exist can website owners really be expected to have their site work on them?

Chrome is just a suggestion, you could use FireFox, Safari, Opera, anything, just something different to see if the problem goes away or if it still exists.

The IOS app seems to work on ipads, could suggest you use an ipad. Bit much to expect someone to get new hardware though!

The app is virtually unusable since the apple update.

App works fine on my iPad with IOS 8.0.2
Is it just on phones it does not work?

Hi everyone, we're really sorry to hear your issues. We're aware of the problems with the app and we're working on a new one, so all we can ask is that you bear with us for a bit longer!
