Getting logged out when I navigate away from page

Using the mobile site on iPhone 4S, running on iOS8 and using Safari.

If I follow a link from a thread, which opens up a new Safari page, read and then close it, the MN page I was on reloads and logs me out in the process. The same happens if I go to a different app but keep MN open. I can be mid-reply to a thread, go on something else to check something for literally 2 seconds, but as soon as I flick back to MN, it reloads and logs me out. So I have to log back in and type my reply all over again. This only happens on MN and no other sites I use.

Make sure Safari is not in private browsing mode.

I've had exactly the same issue! Same phone and everything. Drives me crazy.

I am getting logged out of MN every time I close it. It's driving me spare, having to log back in every time.

The weird thing is that when I click on "login" and then click into the "username" box to put in my username, the username and password suddenly appear. The "keep me logged in" box is also already ticked.

No idea what's happening, but it's bloody annoying!

It's only on my iPad though, not on my laptop. I'm running iOS 7.

Hooooooooray! Success! Nannynick you were right. It was the private browsing thing. Thank you so much.

Private Browsing is the obvious thing when it comes to IOS, as it seems to get turned on by default following an upgrade.

So when that is not the cause, trickier to work out what is the cause.

Check the Date and Time is correct on the phone.

The next thing to consider is if it is something to do with Cookies. Trouble is, you only want to remove cookies which Mumsnet uses, not anything else. Then login to mumsnet and it recreates the cookies.

Mumsnet uses 3 domains:
mumsnet.com
www.mumsnet.com
local.mumsnet.com

Make sure you remember your mumsnet username and password - then delete the cookies from those 3 domains.

Then try logging in to Mumsnet using the login page (not the reply to message bit) and tick the box to login automatically. With luck it will then work.

Thanks nannynick. I followed your advice about deleting specific cookies and it seems to have done the trick!

I take that back. It's still happening. Just opened up by eBay app for 10 seconds and when I switched back to here the page refreshed and I got logged out again.

Oh dear, at least it worked for some people.

Betty, try restarting the phone. May force it to do a tidyup of things in cache.

I'm having the same problem on my phone!
If I let the screen saver come on, or put my phone on standby - even for a few seconds and without navigating away from the page - it logs me out!

It's been driving me mad all day long!
