Are ousted trolls allowed to name change?

Just wondered if an ousted troll tried to name change and go back for 'another round' is that allowed? Do you keep an eye to check if they're typing BS or how does it work? Do people get banned from MN?

Thanks, SHR.

You can get banned, and ISPs can get banned too.

Twiglett · 21/09/2006 21:58

my understanding is that they can be banned by user name, email and IP address ..but I'm sure they can come back by changing pc / isp / email address

hth

SecondhandRose · 21/09/2006 21:59

Do they ever though or do they sneak back in by the 'back door' do you think?

Without wanting to reveal too much... we do our level best to stop trolls coming back but am sure the odd one slips through. Helps if everyone keeps a look out though and reports anything dodgy.

LieselVonTrapp · 22/09/2006 11:07

I would actually like her to come back and explain herself though.

Twiglett · 22/09/2006 12:15

who?

Mateychops · 22/09/2006 13:40

Yeah, Liesel, who???? I've put on the kettle, now tell us all!

ginmummy · 22/09/2006 13:45

I saw this kicking off yesterday - who's the troll?? Is it that Kat woman?

CarolinaMoon · 22/09/2006 13:45

do they ever explain themselves?

JustineMumsnet · 22/09/2006 13:48

perhaps we could invite one for an online chat

CarolinaMoon · 22/09/2006 13:53

heheheh

can we have JudgeFlounce please??

LieselVonTrapp · 22/09/2006 13:55

.... and VVVickiQV

WigWamBam · 22/09/2006 14:03

Oh, I'd love to get JF back for an explanation and a damned good MN kicking ... can you imagine the resultant thread?

prettymum · 22/09/2006 14:06

whats the story with the judge person?

Twiglett · 22/09/2006 14:06

in a little bit of a holiday mood are we Justine

DumbledoresGirl · 22/09/2006 14:08

Oh yes another vote for inviting JF back for an online chat! I don't know what this says about me, but I have never had so much fun on Mumsnet as when "she" was around.

ruty · 23/09/2006 16:02

JF hurt people horribly as i have been told.

fattiemumma · 23/09/2006 16:05

Aww what have i missed?

and is VVV a troll? i thought she was a regualr?

tortoiseshell · 23/09/2006 16:05

JF was the most HORRIBLY fascinating troll - over a long period of time she/he wove this web of total deceit, drawing a lot of people in. It all unravelled over one amazing day when all the MN children in the country were put in front of Cbeebies for a good 8 hours as she/he was tracked down and their true identity revealed!!!!

tortoiseshell · 23/09/2006 16:05

Afterwards a lot of people were very upset as JF had included in their tale a child who had died, and lots of people felt hurt by this with good reason. Not a nice person imo.

I suppose it depends on whether you were taken in by her or not. I don't tend to get involved with people on MN in that way - just enjoy the chat and ideas people come up with on a superficial level - and I have to say JF was full of witticisms and cracking opinions. For those who invested any personal emotions or made decisions based on JF's advice/"experience" then, yes, I can see they would have been hurt by "her".

SpaceCadet · 23/09/2006 17:29

IIRC-didnt JF, post regularly in the legal section, offering people the benefit of her "professional knowledge" for free., its worrying that some people could have taken as gospel what she said..and acted on her advice.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/09/2006 17:31

Yes she did SC. It boggles the mind really.

Pixiefish · 23/09/2006 17:32

JF was dangerous and gave very wrong and very bad legal advice. A very disturbed person imo
