Gulp Confused

I'm on safari on the laptop if that helps?

FFS, there is meant to be a screen shot (taken on my camera - high tech!) in here.... hang on, i'll try again!

Right - try that again!

That looks a bit dodgy. I can't imagine MNHQ doing that. They'd just start a 'stickied' thread if they wanted to do a survey.

Hope you clicked the 'closed X'?!

sillymillyb · 23/08/2014 20:07

Oh god, I'm sorry for spamming my own thread - but don't worry! I had a virus not you.... I'm clean and all is uninstalled now though.

Sorry for the spamming and the panic!

Thanks fru - I couldn't close the bloody thing. It's my own fault cos I searched for download iTunes on google and hit the first response thinking it was apple.... It obviously was not and has made my machine all dirty and infected Grin

I've uninstalled now and it's fixed the problem. Phew!!

No. You haven't spammed your own thread - it was just a photo that you attached to a post; it won't affect anyone else.

What I meant was, I hoped that you'd clicked the 'Close X' as soon as it popped up on your computer.

But it's helpful that MNHQ sees this stuff anyway.

It's malware and a scam - glad you didn't fall for it!

The controls on malware pop ups are fake: you can't actually close them, or click 'no', you are stuck with forced shutdown (if you spot it in time)

sillymillyb · 23/08/2014 21:22

Ahh I wondered why it didn't work when I pressed the x!

I went into control panel and uninstalled everything from the last 2 days, which seems to have done the job. Kaplinsky are saying there is no virus though - I take it that malware doesn't show up on it?

Is there a better virus protector than that?

Is there a better virus protector than that?

Yes, Eset. And Malwarebytes.

Hi there SillyMilly

Have just replied to your report, but for the benefit of anyone else, probably best not to click on anything like this. We'll forward it to tech and just double check it's nothing to do with us, but it certainly doesn't look like it. Thanks for flagging it up.
