And welcome to the new thread!

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Bookmark option still not available in the ellipse menu, despite activating it on the desktop site.

The disclaimers at the top of some topics (see example) fill the screen, even with the blue tool bar disabled!

That's odd crabb - anyone else having problems with Bookmarking not working?

Disclaimers: this is a difficult one - we do really need to have full disclaimers on some topics for legal reasons. We'll have a think about whether we can edit them down.

Threads I'm On live links in thread titles and topic titles, restoration of bookmarks, as well as speed and functionality on certain devices (including thread names not showing at all and all threads loading as one page) TECH ARE WORKING ON THIS NOW

Bookmarks not working on iOS7 NEW ISSUE - please let us know what’s happening

Words in titles getting broken across lines - FIXED

Original post no longer at top of paginated pages - low priority but on the list for discussion

Clicked-on threads don't change colour -FIXED

Lack of navigation at the top of the page - next/previous buttons please keep the feedback coming - FIXED

No 'm' next to stickied threads in boards other than Active low priority but on the list

Accessibility issues/glaring - font colour and line spacing FIXED

Battery use - especially on Android we're investigating this issue - please keep the feedback coming

Ads that flicker or move - we're trying to find out if we can block these pre-emptively but for now please report them (mention the brand name or include a screenshot please)

Don't like having to double-tap to get to Active Convos or to reply please keep the feedback coming

Adding top/bottom of page shortcut buttons - please keep the feedback coming, but you can navigate to the top of the page via the ellipses/three dots menu at the bottom right of each post, and you can go to the bottom by hitting ‘reply’

No All posts on one page button - please keep the feedback coming, but you can do this via customise under the sub-menu. (NB you must be logged in to see the sub-menu: it's under the downward-pointing chevron under the three main icons in the top right of the page)

No notification that PMs have been sent FIXED

Picture issues will try to look at this week

Go To [page] doesn't work - is this still an issue?

Jumpy switch between portrait and landscape on iOS devices is on our list

Hi overthemill - if you scroll right down to the bottom of the page, there's a link that takes you to the desktop site.

To be honest, browsers (and other tech stuff) aren't quite the same as clothes, in that things that are several years old just don't work very well.

There are thousands (literally) of potential combinations of devices, browsers and operating systems, and no Tech team - however massive or well resourced - can support every single combination. Realistically, we have to prioritise the browsers, devices and OSs that most of our users use.

It's just not realistic for us to support every single out-of-date piece of software - we can't do it. (We say the same thing to people who are using versions of Internet Explorer that are several issues out of date.) We'd need a Tech team of thousands to support every single variation - and as you can see we haven't quite cracked support issues for entirely current devices (like some Samsungs and Nokias), so that really needs to be our priority for now.

Sorry though - we do see that it's irritating. (And downloading iOS7 is a major undertaking so we do feel your pain.)

My blue bar at the bottom has disappeared entirely! I had it last week (when new mobile site first came out) but gone this week. It means I can't get on my threads/watching at all. and active convos only using the back button and refresh.

Am on windows 7 and IE8

Erk. Could you have turned it off via Customise by mistake?

Anyone else lost their shortcuts bar?

Bookmarks on iOS7 - are they working for everyone? Tech can't replicate the fault.

Nope, not that. Have checked on the desktop site.

Could you check on the mobile site? Not sure that that customise option is available on the desktop.

Go to your user icon (top right of the screen, the middle icon with a person in a circle); the option to turn on/off the shortcut buttons is at the very bottom of that menu.

im on a blackberry 10 operating system and finding it hard to post suddenly because where my predictive text used to be there is now a black bar with a 'previous' and a 'next' button posting from a mobile is too labourious without being able to use predictive text so I'll stop posting unless this changes

Yes. No option to 'bump and reset' on TIW and no automatic updates to the number of new posts, means I have to click each thread to see whether there have been any new posts. Bookmarks seem to be working. Still much prefer the old site, which, based on what many posters are saying, did seem to work on the 'out of date software' that you are now implying will not be accommodated on the new site.

Thanks - Tech have this on their list and will look at it, but probably not today.

We do hear you about the Android browser, and we haven't given up hope of making it work at some point. The problem is that it (not us!) doesn't support industry-standard image formats (which was a bit of a surprise tbh.) It seems to mostly affect older devices. So while we completely appreciate that it's blardy annoying from users' POV - that something was working last week suddenly isn't working now - from our POV we need to prioritise the most common device/browser combos. Once that's done we'll start looking at less common glitches and think about what we can do.

So the recommendation to download Chrome is really a workaround for those who are prepared to give it a go.

Links on TIO and TIW now take you to paged view of messages (as per your customise settings)

I'm sure this has been said but by the time you have an advert at the top and the blue buttons (jumping around when I scroll) at the bottom, there's only about 60% of the screen visible for use...(iPhone 4)...which is really annoying as you have to keep scrolling miles to see anything!

I know you make your money advertising but could we possibly lose the adverts on the older (smaller screen) phones?

Sorry - the ads (as in, some ads somewhere) are a permanent feature: MN wouldn't exist without them.

We are going to test them in different places though to see which users prefer.

You can turn off the shortcuts (blue) bar if you want more space: go to your user icon (top right of the screen, the middle icon with a person in a circle); the option to turn off the shortcut buttons is at the very bottom of that menu.

Blackberry 9720, BB 7.1 OS (I think), default browser

TIO has become impossible, when I try to load threads it keeps reloading the last tiny bit until I give up in frustration or it closes the browser. I don't seem to have the same problem with Active for some reason? I think it got worse when I turned off the blue bar so I could see more screen on Monday (many thanks for the tip on how to do that btw :) )

I also find the side menus temperamental, they might appear, they might appear after several tries, they might freeze the screen, they might make the browser crash :( :( :( :(

I can't take much more of this tbh.

This is a new phone guys! Surely it is supported????

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble. We haven't heard many rumbles from Blackberry users other than Suzanne so tbh at the moment we don't know whether it's a problem at your end or a problem at our end.

Any other Blackberry users having trouble?

PLUS when I post on this thread from my desktop it wants me to save the message and then open it? I have to refresh the page to see if it has posted????? It is an old browser I think, Explorer 9???

This definitely sounds like a software problem at your end - sorry. Might be worth running a virus check and updating your browser if you can bear it!

Before the weekend I was using my iphone 5, couldn't post. Got my new 5s, still can't post. Obviously can post on the desktop site.

That does sound fantastically annoying. Hopefully we'll get some more feedback on 5s's and see whether it's just you.

This is a screenshot from my samsung galaxy using the default browser. I have no report/reply/bookmark or 3 dots at the bottom of each post. Is this something that would be fixed by using crome? I -really- don't want to have to do that though!

Yes, sorry. We're fairly sure that the problem of images and icons not showing up on Samsungs is down to this problem with the Android default browser. If you really can't bear to use Chrome, if you stab the bottom right-hand corner of a post (where the ellipses menu should be!) you may find that it pops up even though you can't see the icons.

We've worked around the limitation of the the older android browsers in terms of image support so all the icons etc should be working on those now.

Also, 'Started by' should be working again now in Customise

Also don't like faffing to get to 'active' if you aren't logged in. Very annoying. Press 'talk' then 'active'. Grrrrrrrrr.

And. I really, really, really miss 'view all messages'.

If I am just quickly checking a thread and not logged in its so much harder remembering where you got to on a thread.

I suppose the answer is HQ want us all logged in to use MN properly.

All sorts of things work a lot better if you're logged in - to be honest we assume most regular users will be logged in as a matter of course.

We'll be adding back the option to 'view all messages' soon.
