Mumsnet App Functionality

PfftTheMagicDraco · 20/08/2014 19:05

There was some mention a while ago (I think) about there being a new app in the works - is this still the case?

I am finding the Android app rather cumbersome and ridiculous. Regularly having to clear data and cache and relog back in again to clear off the stickied posts at the top - and even then within a week they are back to the full page again.

There are no options for functionality at all, aside from being able to flip the reading direction of the text, which never stays the way I put it. Sometimes it's the right way, sometimes it's not. Only the OP is shaded, there's no way of seeing shaded further posts from the OP.

And the app itself is jiggly and rather rubbish - threads reload when I am scrolling, leaving me back halfway up the thread again!

Is there a new app coming? (Please don't tell me to use the mobile site, as this seems to be the default response.)

Nothing? Thanks MN!

Get a better phone?

PfftTheMagicDraco · 22/08/2014 18:44

I was hoping for a response from MN regarding the app, I know there have been issues with it in past - the issue isn't my phone, it's the app. As it says in my post. I'm not sure how a new phone would magically create new features or stop cache issues.

I've got a perfectly good phone. The way the app was had its flaws but this is in no way an improvement. Not user friendly at all nothing is handy, everything takes more clicks rhan before which seems to be taking forever. Ready to give up.

Mumsnet App and functionality in the same sentence - bit of an oxymoron.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 28/08/2014 06:03

I much preferred to have a way to hide threads on the active thread list (or any list). When things are going slow and connections lost easily, I don't want to have to open a thread in order to hide it. Very off putting and not user friendly to remove this function.

Hello Pfft - sorry for the late response!

We know the app leaves a lot to be desired, but a new version is in the works that will hopefully work a lot better. In the meantime, thank you for your patience Flowers

I can't work out how to clear old watched posts on the iPhone app and I keep getting logged out & having to scroll all the way back through the tread .
Will the new app be out soon ?
Will it be updated so that we can see and post photos ?
Thanks

Ok lord knows if these issues have already been mentioned but I have the Mumsnet App on android jellybean and it's as up to date as I can get it.

Problems :-

Threads I'm on. Apparently I have no discussions. Yet I'm on plenty of threads

Active topics. Well it's nothing but product tests/book of the month/guest posts

When I go into topics and then chose a topic. Ie big/slim/whatever it's a completely blank screen. I press refresh and nothing.

So as it stands I can't even set up a new topic anywhere. Mobile app so far is pretty pointless doe me ATM Blush
