Tons of sponsored discussions etc in 'Active' on Android app?!!

This is driving me nuts! When I select 'Active' on the Android app I get a loooooong list of sponsored discussions / guest posts / surveys etc going back as far as January (Bank of America Merrill Lynch return to work thread from 02/01/14 anyone?!?!) and have to scroll through loads of them before I get to the non-sponsored Active threads. I've logged out and in a few times, even name-changed, but I can't get rid of them. Is it only me with this issue? Surely not? How do I fix it please?

Sorry about this, we have passed it on to the techs and they will look into it and get back to us. We will keep you posted (although maybe not on your already crowded phone).

Very annoying this. I've got to try and steal the iPad back from DD and DH (in that order) so I can actually see what's active.
